Background

“Nima Sangay is an alumnus of the Faculty of Nursing and Public Health the then Royal Institute of Health Sciences. He graduated with a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery in 1991. In 2003, he received Bachelor of Nursing from La Trobe University, Australia, and in 2005, he received his Master of Public Health credential from the College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.

Over his thirty-one-years of service to the nation, he went on becoming the Deputy Nursing Superintendent of Jigme Dorji Wangchuk National Referral Hospital and as Deputy Registrar of Bhutan Medical and Health Council, Bhutan Qualifications and Professionals Certification Authority (BQPCA) under the Ministry of Education and Skills Development. He is a member of the 17th batch of Desuung (Guardians of Peace) and is a recipient of the Royal Civil Service Gold Medal for the recognition of his three decades of service to Zhung Tsa-Wa-Sum. During his 30 years of service, Mr Nima was involved in the drafting of numerous health related policy documents.  

In March 2023, Mr Nima joined the Faculty of Nursing and Public Health (FNPH), Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan, as Dean, thus becoming the institute’s first Dean with a nursing background.”
